Star Cinema Grill, Webster

THE STAR CINEMA GRILL HAS MOVED TO BAY BROOK MALL AS OF DECEMBER 2015. THIS REVIEW WAS OF THE OLD LOCATION.

This is a movie theater and restaurant/bar combined where servers bring your orders to you in year seat. You can pay for admission just to see the movie, and are not required to purchase any food or drinks. Although it is technically a bar, the movies and crowd are usually G rated during the day. We’ve seen Madagascar 3, Rio, Rio2, the Lego Movie, Maleficent, How to Train Your Dragon, and countless other first run kid’s movies here. The admission price is on par with AMC or other area theaters, food prices on par with Chili’s (for a  family of 4 expect to drop 60-80 bucks for dinner and movie).  My only complaint about the food is that they try to do too much to make it special. . . please, no blue cheese. . . and they don’t have enough nondrippy items that you can relax eat in the dark. Hummus with vegetables drizzled with oil is not what people want when they go to a movie (I ordered it, but still . . .). They do have a kid’s menu. It’s a good theater, good temperature and sound. They often show both 2d and 3d version of kids movies. If your au child is sensitive to sound in theaters, bring sound-blocking headphones–or you can buy them next door at Guitar Center.
