“Everything Autism” is dedicated making the world–at least our portion of it–a better place for people on the Autism spectrum. We strive to promote and develop local resources (special needs child care, after school programs, social and leisure opportunities, and more residential options) for the Clear Lake and South Houston areas.

Everything Autism is a site with a few different parts to it:

    • an event calendar,
    • business directory with reviews,
    • an activity guide,
    • a nanny pooling / child care exchange (not yet added)
    • an online art gallery for autistic artisans to sell their work online (not yet added),
    • a virtual Christmas tree where autistic people in residential homes can request “wants” and have these funded by donors (coming soon)
    • teen connect — a way for teens to exchange information and overcome social isolation

The site was developed to be scalability in mind. That’s why we are “Everything Autism” rather than the “Clear Lake Autism Group.” We strive to use popular technologies, social media, crowd funding, and e commerce create opportunities for people with autism: to assist adults with disabilities living in group homes, for example, to sell art and handicrafts online, and to publish online requests for items to be fulfilled by donors.

Other opportunities for EA are to set up a nanny pooling resource for after school care, and to provide a way for autistic teens to connect with each other.

Currently, it is a place for families in the Clear Lake area to share resources and leisure activity ideas. We hope others will be interested in contributing to the site and Everything Autism grow.

The Arc is the premier organization for creating opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.
Clear Lake is geographically “in between” two Arcs–approximately 18 miles from the Arc of the Gulf Coast, and 33 miles from the Arc of Greater Houston.

Technically, the Gulf Coast Arc serves residents of Galveston and Brazoria counties, not Houston/Harris County, where much of Clear Lake is situated. The Arc of Greater Houston serves the north and west side of Houston, leaving South Houston and Clear Lake areas underserved.

My interest is chiefly in the application of technology to provide was way for people with autism to become more financially independent, socially connected, and not forgotten.
