ART LESSONS FOR MAY 23 HAVE BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO AN ART FAIR!

Art Classes for Autistic Children and Teens at The Urban Easel, Webster (Clear Lake)

Art lessons taught by artists at The Urban Easel will appeal to ages 8-14 across all cognitive levels and abilities.

There are many benefits of art lessons for those with autism. Art lessons increase opportunities for self-expression and develop a sense of pride and accomplishment. Some with autism have developed a life-long interest and talent for art after having art lessons.

In these classes, emphasis will be placed on helping your child find a way to express his thoughts and feelings through art in a manner most suited to him. Participants can benefit from texture painting and mixed media, sponges and other tactile objects, and from the use of paintbrushes. Before your child’s first lesson, you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire in order to help us get to know your child better.

During the course of 8 weeks, participants will work toward completion of at least one 11×14 or a 16×20 painting which will hang in the gallery show, but there will be multiple projects and assignments.

  • At the end, a mini show will be put together in the gallery. Friends and family can be invited to view your child’s artwork.
  • One trial session lasts 1 ½ hours to 2 hours and the cost is $35. Each additional child: $30.
  • Supplies are included in the introductory class
  • An 8 week session cost is $240
  • Additional child: $200
  • Siblings without autism are also welcome to participate and advance their skills and knowledge in art.

Art Lessons for kids with autism will be held on Saturdays starting April 25 at The Urban Easel Art School and Gallery at 527 El Dorado Blvd, Webster, TX 77598. Students are also welcome to show up for a single session to give it a try. To RSVP, please contact Rachel on her cell at: 281-660-3792 or email: theurbaneasel@gmail.com.
